I am honored to have received the Colorado Ceasefire Courageous Leadership Award. Thank you to Ceasefire for their tireless work advocating to protect people from senseless gun violence and continued education on gun violence prevention. This award symbolizes our partnership with Ceasefire and the shoe symbols imprinted on this award reminds us of the innocent children taken by gun violence. As a fierce advocate for gun violence prevention, last session, I was the prime sponsor of HB24-1174, which strengthens the standard for obtaining a concealed carry permit, and SB24-003, which allows the Colorado Bureau of Investigation the authority to investigate illegal firearm activities in collaboration with local authorities. Both of these bills were signed into law and will strengthen gun laws in our beautiful state.
