Last year I voted to pass SB22-008: Higher Education Support For Foster Youth. This bill created the FosterEd program to provide eligible Colorado student's financial assistance for the remaining balance of the student's total cost of attendance remaining after any private, state, or federal financial assistance received by the student. To qualify for this program, students must be Colorado resident's and have been in foster care or in non-certified kinship care in Colorado on or after their 13th birthday. Everyone deserves to pursue a higher education and this program helps make that goal more attainable for some of our most disadvantaged.
